The Blaze Max Pro RTA by ThunderCloud Creations: Big, Bold, and a Flavour Beast
Alright, you herd it from the Goat first — the Blaze Max Pro RTA by ThunderCloud Creations, in collaboration with Mike Vapes, might just be one of the best flavour-chucking tanks I’ve ever clapped hooves on. You know me, I don’t get easily dazzled by shiny things unless there’s some serious substance behind the sparkle. But this thing? It’s not just a looker — it performs like an overcaffeinated goat on a trampoline.
What’s in the Box?
The Blaze Max Pro RTA arrives in a tidy, no-nonsense package that gives off serious hardware vibes — nothing flashy, just clean branding and a tight presentation. Inside, you get:
-
Blaze Max Pro RTA
-
Bubble Glass (for 8ml capacity)
-
2x 3-Core Fused Clapton Coils (26Ga*3 + 38Ga, 3mm ID, 0.28Ω)
-
Coil Leg Trimmer
-
2x Allen Keys
-
Spare Screws & O-Rings
-
User Manual
-
QC Card
ThunderHead didn’t cheap out. Everything you need to start building is in the box — and those included coils? Absolute gems. I've been testing the tank with them and haven’t needed to swap them out yet. Smooth ramp-up, clean flavour, and they still look fresh. My only gripe? They don’t crackle like my Alien coils. I miss the sound of a raging campfire when I hit the fire button.

Looks: Gold Without the Gaudy
Let’s talk first impressions. I went for the gold version, half expecting it to look like I was wearing Liberace’s vape gear. But no — it turned out classy rather than flashy. The satin finish and tasteful accents balance perfectly when paired with my black Vaporesso Target 200. The Blaze Max Pro is a chonk, no doubt about it — 28mm wide at the top, tapering to about 26mm at the 510. But it’s a smart kind of big. No unsightly overhang, no awkward top-heaviness (unless you slap it on a tiny mech like I tried — more on that later).
Build Deck: The “W” Factor
The heart of this RTA is its "W" shaped postless build deck, a smart and simple layout that makes coil installation a breeze. Even if you're the type who usually needs a stiff drink before attempting a dual coil build, you’ll be fine here. The wide open deck is roomy and forgiving, and those coil leg guides on the trimmer make leg length guesswork a thing of the past.
This build deck isn't just good — it's intuitive. The “W” layout creates a natural airflow path that cradles your coils perfectly, and that makes for one hell of a flavour experience.
Airflow: 60 Holes of Smooth, Saturated Joy
You’ve got 60 honeycomb holes arranged in a dual 270° configuration, paired with a top-to-bottom airflow system. This design is not just for looks — it genuinely delivers some of the best flavour I’ve ever had from a top-airflow tank.
Let’s put that into context. I’ve always believed that bottom airflow RDAs and RTAs reign supreme when it comes to flavour, especially for dessert-style e-liquids. But the Blaze Max Pro has me rethinking that. Whatever voodoo ThunderHead and Mike Vapes worked into this design, it manages to match — if not beat — some of the best bottom-airflow tanks in my rotation.
Leak-Proof & Built Like a Tank
This thing is 100% leak-proof. That top airflow design works exactly as advertised. I’ve chucked it in a bag, left it on its side, taken it out in the South African heat, and not a single drop has escaped. If you’re tired of waking up to sticky mod syndrome, the Blaze Max Pro is your salvation.
It’s a 30mm chonk, but it wears it well. The 28mm base means it doesn’t overhang too badly on most dual-battery mods, and the curves and finish are just right. Threading is smooth, tolerances are bang on, and the top cap’s quarter-turn fill system is buttery. Just twist, fill, and twist shut. No fuss.
Vape Quality: Dense Clouds, Bold Flavour
Let’s not beat around the bush — this thing vapes like an absolute monster.
With the included Claptons running at 0.28Ω dual, I pushed it at 60–75W, and it was nothing short of glorious. Thick, dense vapour with bold flavour in every draw. Whether I was rocking bakery, custard, or fruit-forward blends, it handled them all like a champ.
I’ve run Goat a Cola, Misty Mountain Pie, and Creamageddon Custard through this tank. Each one came through exactly as intended. Flavours were bold, layered, and accurate.
How Does It Stack Up Against the Eclipse?
Now, if you've been around my pen-and-coil ramblings for a while, you'll know there's one tank I've held above all others when it comes to flavour — the Yachtvape Eclipse RTA. That little single-coil wonder earned its title as the apex of single-coil flavour for a damn good reason: tight chamber, perfect airflow geometry, and a simplicity that just works.
So how does the Blaze Max Pro compare? Honestly, it's a different beast — more horsepower, dual-coil muscle, and a far bigger juice tank. But flavour-wise? The Max Pro gets shockingly close. With the right build, it pushes dense, saturated flavour that rivals the Eclipse, even without the same level of compression.
Is it better? Not quite. But it’s more versatile. It trades the Eclipse’s scalpel precision for sledgehammer power. And sometimes, you want that extra oomph.
If the Eclipse is a chef’s knife, the Blaze Max Pro is a battle axe. Both slice through flavour like champions — it just depends on what kind of fight you're in.
The Mod Match & The “Gold God” Moment
I tried pairing it with my Hellvape Trishul mech mod, chasing that full gold god aesthetic. Visually, it’s glorious. Practically? It’s a bit too top-heavy. Stick with something beefier and regulated like the Target 200, and you’ll be golden — literally and figuratively.
Drip Tip & Pin
Now, you know I can’t end a review without at least one complaint — it’s practically a tradition at this point. So here it is: the drip tip. Yep, the 810 that comes with the Blaze Max Pro is a perfectly serviceable plain black number. Comfortable, wide bore, no problems at all. But here’s the thing — the older Blaze tanks came with a bit of flair. A swirled red, black, and gold tip that made the whole setup pop. This time around? Just black.
It’s a small thing, sure, and probably a cost-cutting or “keep it classy” choice. But for us flashier vapers who like a bit of personality up top, it’s a missed opportunity. I mean, when your tank’s this blinged-out and bold, why stop at the tip?
Look, I tried. I really did. I combed through every aspect of the Blaze Max Pro looking for something to whinge about. And aside from my nostalgic pining for crackly Aliens and the fact that the included drip tip is a bit plain compared to the flashy tips on older Blazes, I’ve got nothing.
So here it is:
My biggest gripe is that I couldn’t find anything to complain about.
Which, let’s be honest, is both extremely uncharacteristic and a massive compliment.
The Final Verdict: Worth Every Watt
The Blaze Max Pro RTA is a standout tank in a sea of forgettable RTAs. It delivers rich, clean flavour, silky smooth airflow, leak-proof reliability, and a build experience so friendly you’ll think it’s smiling at you. Whether you’re a seasoned builder or someone just getting comfortable with dual coils, this tank won’t let you down.
If you're looking for a flavour monster, a cloud chucker, and a true top-airflow performer all wrapped into one — this is it. The Blaze Max Pro is everything a modern RTA should be.
So yes, maybe I was shilling. But now? Now I’m just preaching.
TL;DR (for search engines and lazy humans):
The Blaze Max Pro RTA by ThunderHead Creations and Mike Vapes is a dual-coil, top-airflow RTA featuring a “W” postless build deck, 60-hole honeycomb airflow, and a leak-proof design. With an 8ml capacity (with bubble glass), premium build quality, and stunning flavour output, it’s the ideal choice for both flavour chasers and cloud lovers alike. It’s the new benchmark for top-airflow RTAs.

Great review. I don’t think I’ve heard of ThunderCloud before, and I wonder if they intentionally made the name very similar to ThunderHead ??
